Affecting: Renault & Dacia 16v variantsVery common fault. Get your 'pencil' coils checked. The 16 valve versions use a long thin ignition coil (one per cylinder) that takes the place of the conventional ignition leads. They are sadly VERY prone to breaking down. A faulty coil, apart from making the car a pig to drive may cause catalytic converter damage, as unburnt fuel will find its way to the cat and eventually kill the poor thing.
